CFHC signs onto Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program

Chicago Family Health Center is one of three new health agencies to join the Illinois Breast and Cervical Program Network. The newly expanded Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP) gives every uninsured women in the state, regardless of income, access to free breast and cervical cancer screenings and treatment. Chicago Family receives grants

Two generous grants were made to Chicago Family Health Center in the past month, allowing it to continue its mission to provide healthcare to the underserved communities of South Chicago, Roseland, Pullman and surrounding communities. Chicago Family was awarded $15,000 from the W.P. and H.B. White Foundation for the uninsured fund and $5,000 from VNA Foundation to be applied to the Mobile Health Team’s Homeless Program. Read more
Chicago Family Health Center to offer breast cancer support group

It has always been the focus of Chicago Family to offer community residents on the far south and southeast side of Chicago the best healthcare resources available. To that end, Chicago Family will be organizing a breast cancer support group, Las Comadres, in collaboration with Y-Me National Breast Cancer Organization. The first meeting will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Chicago Family Health Center’s South Chicago site, 9119 S. Exchange Ave. Read more
CFHC to participate in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk

On Oct. 21, staff members from Chicago Family will join Las Comadres y Compadres Unidos for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, an event organized by the American Cancer Society, is a noncompetitive walk to help fight breast cancer and provide hope to people facing the disease. Read more
Chicago Family Health Center to strengthen women’s health program

Every three minutes, a woman in the Unites States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leading cancer among white and African-American women, although African-American women are more likely to die from the disease. Chicago Family Health Center realizes the importance of breast cancer awareness in the community, and has targeted women’s health as one of the key strategies for its capital campaign. Read more
CFHC now accepts Credit Card donations online

Chicago Family Health Center has made it easier for those wanting to contribute. Prospective donors can now make donations through the Chicago Family Health Center Web site. By clicking on the “Donate Now” tab in the top navigation bar, donors can enter their information into a secure page. Donors also have the choice of signing up to receive the Chicago Family Health Center newsletter. Read more
CFHC cuts ribbon on South Chicago facility

Chicago Family Health Center’s South Chicago facility is officially complete. Members of the community joined CFHC in celebrating the opening of the South Chicago facility at a ribbon-cutting ceremony August 28. The festivities included speeches, tours, and a health fair and reception following the ceremony. Read more
Capital Campaign meets important milestone

The completion of a 30,000 square-foot expansion to the South Chicago site moves Chicago Family Health Center closer to achieving its campaign goal. While the completion is a major accomplishment for the Center and the community, the expansion is just the first step to better serving the residents of South Chicago and surrounding communities. Chicago Family Health Center to cut ribbon on new facility

Annual Healing Hands Dinner a success

Chicago Family Health Center concluded another successful Healing Hands Dinner. Two-hundred people gathered at the Mid-Day Club for Chicago Family Health Center’s annual Healing Hands fundraiser on Friday. Read more
Chicago Family Health Center celebrates 30 years of service

In a time when Chicago’s south side was quickly deteriorating, several community residents had a vision. It was time to regenerate the area and bring back the vital services lost after the closing and abandoning of many area steel mills. Read more
