Chicago Family Health Center receives grant from Grant Healthcare Foundation

January 7, 2008

Chicago Family Health Center received a grant from Grant Healthcare Foundation, which will allow it to continue to serve the underserved residents of South Chicago, Roseland, Pullman and surrounding communities. The $50,000 grant will be used to provide healthcare to the uninsured.

Each year, the number of uninsured and underinsured patients seeking care from Chicago Family grows. In 2006, Chicago Family provided $3.5 million in charity care. Chicago Family is seeking the assistance of outside donors to provide services to underinsured and uninsured patients. Funding from the Grant Healthcare Foundation will allow Chicago Family to provide healthcare services to approximately 93 patients. Grant Healthcare Foundation joins Blue Cross Blue Shield, the W.P. & H.B. White Foundation, and a private family foundation in supporting this program.

“We are very grateful for the generosity and support Grant Healthcare has provided us with this contribution,” said CEO Wendy Cox. “This funding will allow us to further our mission and better serve our uninsured patients.”

The mission of Grant Healthcare Foundation is to continue the tradition of Grant Hospital of Chicago, founded in 1883, by providing and supporting healthcare services to the people of the Chicago metropolitan area.
