East Side clinic to move in summer 2009
Apr. 15, 2009
To better serve the residents on the far southeast side of Chicago, Chicago Family Health Center (CFHC) will be relocating its East Side clinic by summer 2009. Over the last year, CFHC has operated a school-based health center within George Washington High School.
While the location within the school offered a unique opportunity for Chicago Family, the space to provide the comprehensive services became too small. “This move to a larger space to serve the community better is another step towards our mission of providing affordable, accessible healthcare to this community,” CEO Warren J. Brodine said. “By opening this site, Chicago Family is reaching out to a very vulnerable population in our community, who has limited access to healthcare.”
On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, Chicago Family Health Center hosted a board breaking ceremony to kick off the renovation of its new 6, 000 square foot facility. The new site will be located at 105th and Ewing Ave and will provide a full range of services from birth through geriatrics including: gynecology/obstetrics; pediatrics; chronic disease management; behavioral health; medication dispensary; health education; nutrition counseling; case management services and outreach. “I applaud Chicago Family Health Center on its commitment in providing the most comprehensive primary healthcare in this community for over 30 years,” said 10th Ward Alderman John Pope. “By relocating their services to this new, larger location, Chicago Family will ensure that the residents of the East Side can receive primary, comprehensive care regarding of their insurance status.”
Once renovations are complete, the newly located clinic will have several exam rooms, laboratory, a reception area, nurse’s station, and offices for medical case management and social services. “The new clinic is our promise to the East Side community that Chicago Family will always be here to provide the primary healthcare they deserve,” says Thomas Munoz, Chairman of the Board of CFHC.
