Chicago, IL — June 16, 2009 — Chicago Family Health Center announced today that it has been recognized by Dominion Resources Inc., the parent company of State Line Energy, LLC. for its success in expanding access to healthcare and improving the well being of the community, and has been awarded a $5,000 grant to continue its important efforts.

“This donation will from Dominion Resources will allow Chicago Family Health Center to continue to provide comprehensive, quality healthcare to our uninsured patients in the East Side community,” CEO Warren J. Brodine said. “It is because of the generous support of organizations like these that we can provide healthcare services to the community.”

“Chicago Family has been serving the south and southeast communities of Chicago for over 32 years, providing accessible, affordable and the highest quality of care possible,” said 10th Ward Alderman John Pope. “I am pleased that I can help them receive the necessary funds to continue their important work in our community.”

In total, Dominion donated $1 million in grants to more than 100 health centers in 14 states where Dominion operates. The grants were made through the Dominion Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm.

“The current economic times have produced hardships not seen in several generations,” side Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Dominion. “We want to do our part to make sure medical services are available to those who are uninsured or can’t afford to see a doctor.”

Farrell cited the extraordinary service performed every day by doctors and nurses at health centers in Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and other states where Dominion operates.

“Since the 1960s, health centers have been serving America’s working poor, and over the last year our patient base has grown to included white and blue collar workers who have lost their jobs and health insurance,” said Nicole Lamoureux, executive director of the National Association of Free Clinics. “The Association would like to express its gratitude to Dominion for this generous donation, which will allow health centers to continue to provide quality compassionate health care to those in America who need it most.”
