U.S. Senator Roland W. Burris Co-Sponsors Chicago Family Health Center Back-To-School Health Fair on Saturday, August 22, 2009

Burris emphasized importance of affordable, accessible health care in light of nation’s health insurance reform debate

On Saturday, August 22, 2009, United States Senator Roland W. Burris co-sponsored the Chicago Family Health Center’s (CFHC) Back-To-School Health Fair.

Senator Burris visited CFHC’s Pullman Center at 11:00 AM on Saturday, toured the facility, heard from healthcare workers and constituents, and participated in a blood pressure test.

Senator Burris hoped to bring attention to the need for health insurance reform in Illinois and across the country. Burris is particularly concerned about healthcare disparities among minority groups, who are more likely to be uninsured or underinsured.

“The only way we can find real solutions to health insurance crisis we face is to come together to share ideas.” said Senator Burris. “It’s organizations like the Chicago Family Health Center that are making a difference through their hard work to promote health, prevent disease and provide treatment to our communities. Millions of Americans are uninsured or under-insured, with health insurance costs are growing three times faster than wages. We must keep our commitment to all members of society to provide quality, affordable health coverage for every single American.”
