New Community Health Center Now Open in Chicago Lawn

Chicago Family Health Center Expands to Serve the Southwest Side

Chicago Family Health Center (CFHC) is now open at 63rd and Kedzie. The health center is open to thousands of medically underserved and uninsured residents on the Southwest Side of Chicago and surrounding communities.

CFHC, located at 3223 W. 63rd St., has a team of family medicine physicians and staff to provide services ranging from prenatal care and referral, pediatrics, senior and adult medicine, diabetes and heart disease care, as well as access to other supportive programs. In addition, health care providers are culturally and linguistically sensitive to patients’ needs.

“Although we are new to the Southwest Side, we are no strangers to community health,” said Warren Brodine, Chicago Family Health Center CEO. “Our mission is to treat chronic illness, prevent disease and maintain healthy families. We do this by connecting people with a regular doctor to establish long-term care. Nowhere in Chicago is that need more prevalent than in the South and Southwest Side of Chicago.”

There are more than 200,000 people living in the targeted communities of Chicago Lawn, West Lawn, West Englewood, West Elsdon, Gage Park and Ashburn. Many of these residents live at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level and many have never had routine health care for themselves or their families.

Federally Qualified Health Centers like CFHC promote healthy lifestyles in an effort to eliminate some of the healthcare disparities that exist in many communities. Research indicates that that the poor health status of any community is directly linked to high incidences of teen births, low birth weight infants, infant mortality, lack of prenatal care and poverty. CFHC in Chicago Lawn will combat those specific health issues that hinder the health and wellness of its residents.
